The word "glory" is encompassing and exciting and it is very common in the scriptures, used at different times in different contexts. Glory entails so much including splendor, beauty, honour, admiration, worship, praises, victory, success, high reputation, pride etc! Today we will focus on one aspect of glory, which is "glorifying God!"

The verb "glorifying" implies action! It means to worship, honour, exalt and praise God! Acknowledging him for who he is! Although, no matter how we intend to magnify God we are limited in ourselves to do so, since God is far bigger than we can comprehend! "For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts."

Some persons wonder of what use is our praises to God, he is God with or without us! Of a truth he is but then, the much we can do is to glorify him!
"Know ye that the LORD he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name."

Beyond our environment and circumstances, there are so many reasons to glorify God. In fact, worshipping and praising him ought not to be something we do occasionally maybe when things are good rather, it's suppose to be a life style. God is incomparable and immeasurable! Glorify him:

1. Because he is God! Beyond being our creator, he is a father and a friend to so many! "Know therefore this day, and consider it in thine heart, that the LORD he is God in heaven above, and upon the earth beneath: there is none else."

2. For his wonderful works! What the Lord has done is so marvelous come and join me praise him. I see his glory all around me, the earth speaks of his beauty, the heavens declare his majesty! The works of his hands tell of his excellent greatness. "Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!"

3. We are created to bring him glory! Of what use are we if we do not praise him? He decided to make man and display his beauty and splendor in man, of everything he created, only man was created in his image and likeness.
"Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created."

Glorifying God is not just some routine pattern of "morning devotions" rather, it has to do with expressing love, reverence, honour, submission, adoration etc to God!
We can glorify him:
1. By honouring him in the way we live! "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven."

2. Through songs and words of praises "Sing unto the LORD, bless his name; shew forth his
salvation from day to day."
3. With our substance "Honour the LORD with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase"

God is not interested in our praises alone but he also wants to glorify (beautify, honour etc) us, his call is a call to glory! And it is his desire that his glory should radiate through you! Next Sunday, we will be looking at "created for glory"! Don't miss out!
Happy Sunday!
