My dear teenager, I know at this point in your life you really want to unravel the mystery called "life"! Everything you see around you makes you wonder, you have so many questions though you don't ask them all. You want to try out everything you see and imagine, as fun and interesting as it seems yet there is more to it. You really want to do everything by yourself and even before carrying out every instruction you wonder why you should. If there is anything you hate so much is the restrictions your parents, teachers, and those older than you place on you. You grumble and cry "Why won't they just allow me?"
It's actually beautiful you learn some things on your own and gain experience, i mean taking your own decisions, making and learning from your own mistakes but the truth is as a teenage girl or boy, you lack the capacity to handle or manage the outcome of most decisions. You simply cannot take responsibility for your actions if they leave you to yourself.
Taking up life responsibilities require learning from experience and by acquisition which equips one with knowledge, understanding and wisdom over time. So, my dear teenager you only have a limited idea of what life is, beyond the fun it is a journey on a crooked and difficult path, if you must succeed you must learn how to. You can be talented and intuitive but without knowledge, no matter your struggles you end up as a mediocre.
Meanwhile, you definitely do not want to make mistakes that will ruin your life and leave you in regret in these foundational days of your life in the process of trying to figure out things for yourself. I want you to know that everything you see in this life has its time and season, you may be restricted from doing so many things now but soon you will have the freedom to do the same things even with pressure from the same people that once restricted you!
The best you can do now is to equip yourself for what is ahead of you! Discover yourself, build yourself; acquire skills and develop your talents. Crave for knowledge and read books, ask questions and learn from the wise. Frankly speaking, you have all you need to be a success and life is actually beautiful when you discover something to live for but a great deal of patience, discipline, focus, determination, consistency etc. is required.
I will like to conclude this epistle by saying, you alone decides what you become if someone else makes this decision for you, it is because you permitted him or her to do so. As you live and grow daily, you will gradually take up more responsibilities, make your own choices, and definitely gain experience. If you learn to choose wisely, your mistakes will be minor and limited. So, your first choice and decision as a teenager should be to obey, learn and grow!
